David Pannick: We can’t wait another 50 years for more women judges
PUBLISHED October 2, 2015In the latest volume of his history of the Hundred Years War, Cursed Kings, Jonathan Sumption quotes an angry French butcher who threatened in 1421 to “cut off the heads of the judges”. Lord Sumption, a judge of the Supreme Court, has provoked the modern equivalent - critical letters to the editor of this newspaper - by his comments last week on why there are so few senior, women judges.
