Calls for more community policing

Police forces need to forge closer working relationships with local communities to help bring down crime levels, a new report claims.

The Chief Inspector of Constabulary highlights evidence which shows crime levels fall when local people are given more of a say in policing priorities.
The report praised community police officers, but said they were frequently taken away to do other jobs.
