Britain's failing mental health system must change

The case of Nicola Edgington, the mental health patient sentenced to life this week for the murder of Sally Hodkin, a stranger she stabbed to death in a street in south-east London, is deeply worrying. It seems to point to a pattern of repeated failings in mental health care that, yet again, have left an innocent person dead and consigned a troubled mental health patient to being locked up for years.
