A sentence of 30 months' imprisonment for arson was reduced to nine months where the offender had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity and had extinguished the fire very quickly after starting it, notwithstanding that his threats to burn down the house with the occupants inside indicated a greater degree of harm causing private fear in a domestic context.
