An information technology security manager would have been a good witness to fulfil the requirement of s.69 Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 in the circumstances and it had been a matter for the justices to decide whether the witness was familiar with the operation of the computer in the sense of knowing what it was required to do and could say it was doing it properly.
