Where a simple discharge from detention in a young offender institute was likely to lead to a rapid deterioration in manifestations of the offender's personality disorder, a transfer to hospital with a staged discharge fulfilled the medical conditions of s.47 Mental Health Act 1983 as treatment was likely to alleviate or prevent deterioration of the condition.
