A judge had a certain amount of discretion in deciding how to approach issues of identification of offenders, and although he had looked at weaknesses in evidence apart from giving a Turnbull direction, and had failed to give a Lucas direction where it was alleged that an offender had told a lie, the conviction would not be overturned.
