PUBLISHED March 10, 2000Where a patient was suffering from a mental disorder and a hunger strike was deemed to be a manifestation of that illness, s.63 Mental Health Act 1983 applied to the circumstances surrounding the commencement and continuation of force-feeding as medical treatment for the mental disorder.
