It was no bar to a magistrate hearing a case that she had taught at the school where a person appearing before her had formerly been a pupil, particularly where she had never taught him and had had no personal dealings with him. No fair-minded observer would have considered that the pupil's subsequent conviction was vitiated by the appearance of bias.
