A leading lawyer has hit out at personal criticism of judges.

Colin Campbell, Dean of the Faculty of Advocates, sprung to the defence of the judiciary after a "league table" named Lord Marnoch as Scotland's worst judge.
He said: "It provides no proper basis for adverse personal comment on individual judges." The editor of The Firm magazine, which published the table, said he could not comment on how the media had used it but it had prompted a positive debate.
