[2006] EWCA Crim 2632

Sentences of 12 months' detention suspended for two years plus 18 months' probationary supervision imposed on two 19-year-old defendants for possession of prohibited firearms and possession of ammunition without firearms certificates were unduly lenient as carrying firearms for personal protection did not amount to an exceptional circumstance. The court was bound to impose custodial sentences.
