Solicitors had to ensure that clients made an informed choice in relation to legal expenses insurance. To comply with the Conditional Fee Agreements Regulations 2000 reg.4(2)(c), it was normally not enough for a solicitor simply to ask his or her client whether they had insurance. In the majority of cases, some further enquiry was required.
