One in five British adults admit stealing from shops, a study revealed yesterday.
The theft figures are the highest in Europe - with more goods pilfered off shelves here than any other country on the continent.
And 17.7 per cent of adults confessed they had gone shoplifting at least once - that's the equivalent of 7.7 million people. The poll by Group 4 Securicor is to highlight the problem in the Christmas rush.
