[2008] EWHC 952 (Admin)

Convictions for offences of assaulting a police officer in the execution of his duty were quashed where statements made by magistrates in open court had given the impression that they had not applied the correct criminal standard of proof, even though there was no reason to believe that they, in fact, had applied the incorrect standard of proof.
