This is no way to defend free speech in the face of threats of violence

On January 7, on the day of the barbaric attack on the journalists at the magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris, the prime minister, David Cameron, told the House of Commons, “we stand squarely for free speech and democracy. These people will never be able to take us off those values”.
