The terrible attacks in Paris were an assault on liberty, equality and fraternity. The only proper response is to strengthen our resolve in upholding those freedoms, especially free speech. Yet the Mayor of London's response was to say he isn't particularly interested in civil liberties, and that the police should gain further powers to monitor anyone's emails and phone calls.
