HH Judge Peter Rook QC is the author of the leading textbook in the field of sexual offences. Preparing cases of this sort requires great care and specialist skills. This lecture will be of great assistance to both experienced practitioners and those newer to the field who seek to advance their knowledge in this area.
HH Judge Peter Rook QC is a Senior Circuit Judge who sits at the Old Bailey and from time to time in the Court of Appeal. For many years he has had a strong interest in the law relating to sexual offences and is a leading authority in this field. He lectures regularly to the Judicial College. From 2006 until 2009 he ran the Serious Sexual Offences Seminar, training judges who try sexual offences. He is Co-author of the legal textbook ‘Rook and Ward’ on ‘Sexual Offences’ (Sweet and Maxwell) the latest supplement was published in March this year. It covers all significant developments in the area over the last 3 years.He is currently chairing a committee for the Advocacy Training Council which has been set up to devise a pan profession course for ALL advocates  who undertake cases involving vulnerable witnesses.
