In the trial of drug smuggling offences arising from the controlled delivery of heroin into the United Kingdom, the security of the participating informant and the security of other operations might well justify a certain reticence or coyness in the information disclosed by the prosecution, provided that there was compliance with the obligation of disclosure in the light of the facts of the case and the defence being put forward.
