[2013] EWCA Crim 230

A judge had not been justified in exceeding the range recommended by the sentencing guidelines for an offence of robbery committed by an adult when imposing a sentence of six years' detention on an 18-year-old offender who committed a night-time robbery at knifepoint, notwithstanding the offender's lack of remorse and disturbing criminal record. A sentence of five years was appropriate following a guilty plea which had not been entered at the first available opportunity.
