A defendant who challenged the credibility of a complainant while at the same time adducing evidence of his own previous convictions under the Criminal Justice Act 2003 s.101(1)(b) had to face the possibility that fair summing-up would not gloss over the problem that his bad character raised in terms of his credibility.
