Regarding causation of the offence of inflicting grievous bodily harm, the jury should have been directed that the injury must have been reasonably foreseeable by a reasonable person in the defendant's shoes. There should be no direction that the reasonable person in the defendant's shoes should be taken to be the same age and sex as the defendant.
