A prosecution costs order was to be enforced as if it had been adjudged to be paid on conviction in the magistrates' court and, in order to avoid sending an offender to prison by the back door and to ensure that the length of time over which the order would be paid was not oppressive, the amount and length of time given for payment had to be just.
