[2011] EWCA Crim 3326

The court reiterated that although persistent offending could warrant a substantial increase in sentence, the focus of the sentencing regime under the Criminal Justice Act 2003 was notably on the gravity of the individual offence or offences for which the offender stood to be sentenced.
