The five-year minimum term of imprisonment required under the Firearms Act 1968 s.51A for carrying a prohibited weapon by virtue of s.5(1)(af) was quashed in the case of an appellant who had taken one loaded with blanks, plus another gun with blanks, and a hunting knife into a fast-food restaurant with intent to cause fear of violence, as his circumstances fell within the exception to s.51A.
