[2010] EWCA Crim 898
There was no excuse for an 18-month delay in applying for an extension of time to appeal a sentence of imprisonment imposed for possession of a false identity document. Even if a case decided 11 months later had established new tariffs for such offences, it would be contrary to principle to be able to invoke it as sentencing decisions did not have retrospective effect.
