R v JAMIE LEE CHAPMAN (1999)

PUBLISHED July 22, 1999

In an appeal against a sentence of life imprisonment for an offence of arson being reckless as to whether life was endangered, it was considered that although the offence was serious in nature, in light of the circumstances of the appellant's case, it did not justify an indeterminate sentence and accordingly the sentence was quashed and substituted with a sentence of 10 years' imprisonment.
