The court outlined the correct approach to determining the admissibility of evidence designed to correct a misleading impression given by a defendant in a criminal trial. It explained the statutory purpose of the Criminal Justice (Evidence) (Northern Ireland) Order 2004 art.10(6) and its responsibility to ensure that the evidence admitted went no further than was necessary to correct the misleading impression.
