[2008] EWCA Crim 3117
A conviction for possessing a false identity document with intent was quashed even though the offender had pleaded guilty, as he was not given advice specifically on the meaning of coming directly from a country where his life or freedom was threatened. As the offender had a reasonable prospect of demonstrating that he had come directly from a country where his life or freedom was threatened, the conviction was unsafe.
