The reported statement of the aunt of a victim of alleged cruelty, that she had seen the victim's parents hit the victim, was admissible in the trial of the aunt and the parents as evidence of the aunt's credibility, since she had later told the police that she had not seen any ill-treatment. The jury could be assumed to act in accordance with a direction that the evidence as against the parents was irrelevant hearsay.
