Where an offender had been committed for sentence to the Crown Court and the sentence imposed was less than six months the Court of Appeal had no jurisdiction to hear the appeal. Where a sentence was challenged by way of judicial review it was necessary that the sentence should be wrong in law, in excess of jurisdiction, or a mistake of law.
