[2012] EWCA Crim 2319

Having regard to the totality principle, a total sentence of seven years' detention imposed on a young offender following guilty pleas to offences including possession of a firearm, possession of cannabis with intent to supply and handling stolen goods was too high given the circumstances. A sentence of five years' detention for the firearms offence was upheld with all other sentences to run concurrently with each other but consecutive to the five-year sentence, making a total sentence of six years' detention.
