[2008] EWCA Crim 541

A sentence imposed for assisting an offender contrary to the Criminal Law Act 1967 s.4(1) was reduced by 25 per cent. The defendant had, at an early stage, admitted to disposing of a weapon used in an assault, but had not been able to enter a guilty plea until the offender had been found guilty of murder; therefore he was not entitled to credit equivalent to that of a guilty plea, but was nevertheless entitled to a significant discount from the sentence that would have been appropriate had he maintained a steadfast plea of not guilty.
