A judge had been correct to impose, by reference to the provisions of the Criminal Justice Act 2003, discretionary life sentences on three offenders who had been convicted of conspiracy to murder, since they had achieved their aim and presented a continuing risk of danger such as to warrant indeterminate sentences.
