Met Police apologise for shooting of woman which sparked 1985 Brixton riots

Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, has apologised ''unreservedly'' to the family of a mother who was shot by police during a bungled raid at her home, sparking the 1985 Brixton riots, after an inquest in to her death revealed ''astonishing failures'' by officers.
