The language of the Community Legal Service (Financial) Regulations 2000 reg.21, which provided for the deduction of "a reasonable amount" in respect of maintenance payments where the children were not members of the applicant's household, implied something rather more formal than the situation in the instant case where the mother was providing her sons, who were in higher education, with incidental occasional financial assistance while maintaining a home to which they could return when they wished.
