Madrid enjoys a fabulous climate all year round. In early October it will still be very warm. A city centre has the advantage of opportunities to visit museums and art galleries as well as enjoying bars and outdoor cafes in grand plazas. Travel costs should be very reasonable, particularly if booked early and delegates will gain 5 CPD points. The Association has arranged the hotel and conference. Delegates should book their own preferred travel plans.
We will be staying at the 4* Hotel Emperador http://www.emperadorhotel.com/en The hotel is in the heart of Madrid, local to shops, the Thyssen-Bonermisza Museum and the Prado Museum which hosts one of the finest art collections in the world. The rooms are to a good standard with interior views. Upgrades to rooms with City views may be available on request. The hotel has an outdoor pool, sauna, gym and bar with a terrace. The drinks party on Saturday evening will be held on the roof terrace with a panoramic view on Madrid
TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS
I would advise delegates to book flights early to ensure the best prices. The flight time is about 2 hours. A cab from the airport costs about €30, (so do try and share with others on your flight) and there are buses every 10 minutes costing €5. When booking your travel, don’t forget that you need to arrive in time for dinner at 8ish on Friday evening. For those of you wanting to make a long weekend, the hotel has agreed (subject to availability) to provide some rooms on Thursday or Sunday at the same rate if you prefer to arrive the day before or to spend more time there, as long as this is booked through LCCSA.. We anticipate this will be a popular destination, so do please make your booking early
CONFERENCES
The conferences will be held on Saturday from 10.00 to 12.00 and Sunday 10.00 to 1pm.
Professor David Ormerod QC has kindly agreed to give a Criminal Update on Saturday and on Sunday we hope to have a panel of our own in-house experts to discuss topics of interest to our members. 5 CPD hours in total.
OPTIONAL CITY TOUR
There will be an optional walking tour on Saturday from 12.30 to 2.30pm after the morning conference. This will take in the main sights of the historical quarter as well as visiting treasures of the 19th & 20th centuries, and the Musas district so named because most of the famous Spanish writers chose this ancient quarter to get their inspiration.
As always the conference is to be the one of the important social events of the Association’s year. Please apply early to avoid missing this most enjoyable and popular weekend. Please complete and return the booking form with a cheque in full payment to secure your place. Madrid Booking Form
