Staff at the In-Moto showroom in Croydon, south London defeated a group of six robbers trying to steal two brand new Ducati motorcyles.

Two people wearing motorcycle helmets walk into the shop and calmly begin to wheel away the £25,000 machines before they are noticed by shop worker Paul Read, 35.

Mr Read grapples with the raiders as he tries to force them out of the shop. More staff join in to keep hold of the motorcycles, but a CCTV camera in front of the shop reveals four more robbers arriving to join in, with some armed with what appear to be metal bars and a hammer.

After chaotic scenes on the pavement, with staff charging the raiders who in turn hurl their weapons back, the group flee on scooters, their attempt to rob the premises thwarted by determined staff.

The CCTV footage was released by the showroom following the attack last week.
