David Blunkett's current troubles may be enough to drive any ordinary man to drink, but the home secretary's visit to the pub today provided him with no opportunity to drown his sorrows.

Tony Blair joined Mr Blunkett at the Purple Bar in his Sheffield constituency to launch a new drive to combat underage drinking.
