Leeds council today claimed that its controversial policy of serving antisocial behaviour orders to people caught begging has helped change their lives.

In August, it handed out 15 asbos to "hardcore street users" caught begging in Leeds city centre. A follow up survey of those 15 people released today reveals that five admitted that the Asbo helped motivate them to change their lifestyle.
