Where there were no exceptional circumstances, it was not appropriate to suspend a sentence of nine months' imprisonment imposed following a guilty plea to a charge of careless driving causing grievous bodily injury. Sentences imposed in relation to further offences of dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice should have been at least six months' imprisonment consecutive to the sentence of nine months, making a total sentence of 15 months' imprisonment.
