R v D (2012)

A Crown Court judge had not erred in releasing an 18-year-old defendant, who had previously been convicted for the commission of sexual offences, on conditional bail pending trial for further sexual offences. Although the defendant posed some risk of re-offending, that was not the same as a substantial risk, and he could be safely managed in the community with appropriate conditions attached to his bail.
