In a claim concerning financial manipulation of company accounts during a period when the company was the subject of a number of acquisitions, the court considered the principles of vicarious liability for fraudulent statements made by servants or agents in the context of a claim for deceit at common law. It also considered the application of principles relating to causation, mitigation and assessment of damages for fraud.
