Emma West charged with racially aggravated public order offence after video footage taken on south London tram

A woman has appeared in court in connection with a video allegedly showing her racially abusing fellow passengers on a tram in south London.

Emma West appeared at Croydon magistrates court charged with a racially aggravated public order offence, British transport police said.

The 34-year-old was arrested on Monday after the video footage was posted on YouTube. The clip, apparently filmed on the Croydon to Wimbledon Tramlink route, has been viewed by thousands of people after appearing online on Sunday.

West, of New Addington, Croydon, was remanded in custody until 6 December.
