We are delighted to share the news of the appointment of Jason Lartey as the new President of the LCCSA.
Jason was officially declared President at our AGM on Monday, taking over from Casey Jenkins, to whom we extend our sincere thanks for her leadership and dedication over the past year.
Jason’s appointment is particularly significant, as he becomes the first Black male President of the LCCSA since the association was founded in 1948. (Angela Campbell served as the first Black female President in 2005.)
Jason, who grew up on a council estate in Peckham and later founded Lartey & Co in 2020, spoke at the AGM about the honour of serving as President. He described himself as a frontline lawyer, working daily in police stations and courts, and reflected on how his experiences have shaped his commitment to access to justice and supporting the defence community.
“Stay engaged, stay connected.”
— Jason Lartey, President of the LCCSA

We hope you will join us in congratulating Jason as he begins his presidency, and in thanking Casey for her energy, care and leadership over the past year.
We look forward to working together in the year ahead — and to continuing to support, represent and strengthen our community of criminal defence practitioners.
