The Crown Prosecution Service has published a list of 2,500 names to be on its first approved advocacy panel after a formal selection exercise aimed at removing advocates not up to scratch. The exercise has been controversial: the list contains 2,000 fewer advocates than the old, after many advocates on the old list did not reapply. Of those who did, three quarters were successful.
