An 18-year-old man was remanded in custody today after appearing in court charged with the stabbing of three teenage girls.

Ian Andrew Ruby faced Bournemouth Magistrates? Court charged with three counts of wounding with intent on the girls aged 14, 15 and 17, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

The girls were allegedly attacked as they got off a bus in East Street, Bridport, Dorset, on August 23.

Mr Ruby, of Hort Lane, Bridport, is also charged with the possession of an offensive weapon, a machete and a knife in Chertsey, Surrey, on August 26.

The teenager, who was dressed in a black casual jacket and had his right arm bandaged, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during the 20-minute hearing.

Chairman of the bench Margaret Pickering adjourned the case until September 4 at Dorchester Crown Court.
