Solicitor ordered to pay ?1.4m

A hearing of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal has ordered Shahrokh Mireskandari to be struck off the roll and to pay costs that could add up to £1.4m.

After a hearing lasting for two weeks, the tribunal found three solicitors guilty of breaches of the code of conduct.

John Hugh Bell was ordered to be suspended for 12 months and pay costs of £21,600. Mireskandari was ordered to be struck off and to pay costs of £1,294,340. Caroline Sara Turbin was ordered to be struck off and to pay costs of £84,060.

Mireskandari was ordered to be jointly and severally liable for all three parties' costs, which total £1.4m.

All three parties have 28 days from receipt of the judgment to appeal.
