A solicitor who was representing a defendant in criminal proceedings under a Legal Aid Order was not precluded by reg.55 Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (General) Regulations 1989 from entering into a contract to pay a proposed expert witness's fees for his attendance at court or booked attendance at court.
