[2004] EWCA Crim 1391
A Woollin direction was designed to help the prosecution to fill a gap in the rare circumstances in which a defendant did an act which caused the death without the purpose of killing or causing serious injury, but in circumstances where death or serious injury had been a virtual certainty as a result of the defendant's actions and the defendant had appreciated that such was the case.
