A judge had adopted too high a starting point for offences of robbery and burglary when departing from the sentencing guidelines for the appropriate categories of the respective offences. Although the sentencing guidelines could be departed from if there was good reason for doing so, there was nothing in the judge's sentencing remarks to suggest that he was purporting to make such a departure.
